Jewelry Care Guide: Keep Your MATZZO Brilliant

At MATZZO, we craft our jewelry using premium materials like Certified 925 Sterling Silver, 18K Gold plating, and high-grade 316L Stainless Steel. While our pieces are designed for the modern man’s lifestyle, proper care is the key to ensuring they maintain their original luster for a lifetime.

1. Material-Specific Care

  • 925 Sterling Silver: Silver naturally oxidizes over time when exposed to air and moisture. To prevent tarnishing, wear your silver pieces often (the oils in your skin actually help!) and store them in a dry, airtight place when not in use.

  • 18K Gold Plating: Our gold pieces feature a thick layer of 18K gold. To preserve the brilliance of the plating, avoid constant friction against hard surfaces and keep them away from harsh chemicals.

  • 316L Stainless Steel: This is our most durable material—water-resistant and tarnish-free. However, even steel can lose its shine if covered in dust or oils. A quick wipe is all it takes to restore its glow.

2. The Golden Rules of Longevity

To keep your jewelry looking brand new, follow these three rules:

  1. "Last On, First Off": Always put your jewelry on after applying cologne, hairspray, or lotions. Chemicals in these products can react with metals and degrade the plating.

  2. Avoid Chlorine & Saltwater: While our jewelry is water-resistant, prolonged exposure to chlorine (pools) or salt (ocean) can be abrasive. We recommend rinsing your pieces with fresh water after a swim.

  3. Sweat with Caution: Intense gym sessions can lead to sweat buildup. Wipe down your jewelry after a workout to remove salts and oils.

3. Cleaning & Storage

  • Cleaning: Use only a soft, lint-free cloth (like a microfiber cloth) to gently buff your jewelry. Never use paper towels or tissues, as they can cause micro-scratches. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners for plated items.

  • Storage: Store each piece separately in its original MATZZO pouch or a lined jewelry box. This prevents pieces from scratching each other and minimizes exposure to moisture.
